The Assistant Director – Adult Services position provides interactive and professional leadership, strategic direction, and management to the Branches & Western Monmouth Achievement Centers. The successful candidate is a dynamic leader who can influence across programs and oversee day to day operations of the Branches & Western Monmouth Achievement Programs. The Assistant Director will have expertise in managing the health and wellness needs of individuals served.
They will also partner with the Assistant Director and Senior Manager of Adult Services, Health Services, Residential, Quality Assurance and Human Resources to achieve the Agency’s mission and effectively run day program operations that meet the needs of the Monmouth County I/DD community.
The Assistant Director leads the daily activities of the programs in alignment with the rules and regulations of the Department of Developmental Disabilities (DDD) and in compliance with the policies and procedures of The Arc and the standards of its funding sources to increase served individual and employee engagement and retention. The successful candidate can balance hands on work in all areas including personal hygiene, medication administration, community support and serve as a member of the Adult Services leadership team.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology, Special Education, Social Work or equivalent experience, with a minimum of three years of successful programmatic, operations and administrative day program management encompassing progressive management experience working with people with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities required. Strong interpersonal communications, both verbal and written, computer skills and knowledge of electronic medical records systems required. Demonstrated follow up, organization, team focused skills. Crisis Management training and Ukeru experience strongly preferred.
Valid NJ driver’s license, and a driving record which is acceptable to The Arc of Monmouth, Inc., and its insurer.
Responsibilities:
1. Lead, demonstrate and evaluate the design of creative served individual centered, daily programming in the Branches and Western Monmouth Achievement centers, provide supervision and monitoring of staff, Managers, and Associate Managers, to ensure a positive program environment.
2. Partner with the Branches & Western Monmouth Program Managers & Associate Managers to improve participant individual and group level services, foster and maintain positive employee/management relations, develop an atmosphere of cooperation and teamwork, efficiently identifying problems and solutions to continue staff development and retention.
3. Evaluate day program staff to ensure excellence is upheld and adequate program coverage, scheduling, hiring, training, documenting and staff disciplinary actions, if necessary, are occurring.
4. Attending meetings as required, including but not limited to interdisciplinary team meetings and staff meetings.
5. Use appropriate intervention and assume responsibility for and complete all reporting procedures in an unusual incident and/or emergency situation.
6. To provide supervision, guidance and training on daily management and issues related to Medication Administration in electronic records system advising Compliance Director or Senior Director as needed.
7. Observe and incorporate effective activities or groups for served individuals relating to their specific needs.
8. To provide guidance, support, training and supervision to program staff and managers and provide documentation to Human Resources on all trainings related to Professional Development.
9. To cooperate with inspections or investigations conducted by The Arc of Monmouth and/or by the New Jersey Department of Human Services or the Division of Developmental Disabilities
10. All other duties as assigned by the Senior Director of Programs and Vocational Services.
